The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners will consider road improvement projects and vehicle purchases at this week’s meeting.
Commissioners will consider awarding an approximately $1.1 million contract to Bartow Paving Company for improvements on East Cherokee Drive at the new Dean Rusk Middle School, which is set to open in August. The work includes deceleration lanes for both new school driveways and a continuous center-left turn lane between Hickory Road and Ga. 140.
On another roads project, commissioners will look at a supplemental agreement that would add curbs, gutters and storm drainage for the Keeter Road improvement project, a 0.6-mile stretch between Holly Street and the Canton city limits.
Commissioners will also weigh in on vehicle/equipment purchases for the Roads and Bridge Department, the Cherokee Office of Economic Development and for E-911.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. today at the county administration building, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton.
