The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved 43 streets totaling 14.8 miles to be listed in the county’s 2018 application for funds out of the Georgia Department of Transportation Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant program.
Four roads are in the Bennett Farms subdivision; seven in Bradshaw Farms; 10 in Wyngate; 14 in Fieldstone, and four in Cherokee Falls, according to a report to the commissioners by Geoffrey E. Morton, the county’s public works director.
Designated streets include Wyngate Parkway from Towne Lake Parkway to Bells Ferry Road; Howell Bridge Road from I-575 to Long Road; Long from Lower Bethany to Hornage roads; and Lower Bethany from MB 1525 to Worley Road, Morton said.
The GDOT grant of $2.2 million will require a minimum 30 percent county match of $674,468, for a total project cost of $2.9 million, Morton said.
