Cherokee County School District officials are forecasting higher enrollment when the school year begins Monday.

School officials expect to see 1,156 new students, boosting the student census to 41,673. That’s an increase of more than 2,000 from 2013-2014.

The district said it’s accommodating the increase by adding new buses, bringing the total fleet to 369. The district is also adding dozens of new teachers, including 35 new instructors to address student population growth and 48 more to cut class sizes in grades six through 12.

A number of technology improvements also will be in place, including an increase in Internet bandwidth and a system that allows any school to be computer-monitored through installation of closed-circuit digital cameras.
