The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved spending nearly $2.5 million to buy and outfit 51 vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office.

The purchase, paid for by county SPLOST funds to replace vehicles in the sheriff’s aging fleet, consists of 47 Ford Explorers (42 patrol and five administration vehicles); one K-9 Chevrolet Tahoe, and three Ford F150 trucks, according to a staff report to commissioners.

Wade Ford submitted the low bid for the Explorers, at $33,842 each; and Brannen Motor Co., the low bid for the Tahoe, $34,400, staff said. King Ford submitted the lows bid for two police-rated F150s, $29,080 per vehicle; and for an administration F150, $37,364.

The balance of the purchase cost will go to Prologic, to install police equipment on the vehicles; and MC Graphics, to install graphics. Information: https://bit.ly/34cjEj7
