Cherokee County has declared a state of emergency, directing residents to shelter in place and closing restaurant dining rooms and other businesses to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The declaration and emergency order apply to businesses and activities in unincorporated areas and are in effect through midnight Thursday, April 9. To view them: https://bit.ly/2QM3uY6

“This order calls for citizens to shelter at home except where it’s truly necessary to go out,” County Chairman Harry Johnston said. “It requires the closure of many places where people congregate or have close contact with each other, including dine-in restaurant service.”

With certain exceptions, gatherings of more than 10 persons are prohibited if people are to be within six feet of each other. Restaurants may offer delivery or carry-out service.

Close-contact businesses including barber shops, nail salons and massage parlors; and gathering places like health clubs, bowling alleys, movie theaters and live performance venues, must close. Information: https://bit.ly/2Uj7kdw
