Cherokee County has agreed to take over maintenance of three streets with a combined length of 4,224 feet in the Orchards at East Cherokee condominium and single-family home subdivision.

The Board of Commissioners approved the agreement with homeowners at the Orchards, on Hickory Road west of Hickory Flat Highway.

The three streets were constructed to county roadway standards, according to a staff memo. Two of them – Owens Farm Lane and Shade Tree Circle – have the county standard 50-foot right-of-way, while the third, Orchards Circle, has a 24-foot-right-of-way due to retaining walls.

All of the residents are in agreement on the action, staff said.
