The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved an agreement with the Atlanta Regional Commission that would cover most of the $625,000 cost to develop a Comprehensive Transportation Plan Update.

The ARC will provide $500,000, with the county matching it with $125,000 of its own funds, according to a staff report to commissioners. The county adopted the Comprehensive Transportation Plan in March 2016, and its update is necessary for future federal transportation funding. The local plan also will help inform regional transportation planning.

This summer, the county will advertise for proposals from consulting firms to draft the updated plan, an 18-month process, staff said. A contract would be awarded in September, with the consultant delivering the plan to the county by early 2022. Information: https://bit.ly/2Bdr2QP
