The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners approved rezoning for two commercial developments at its meeting Tuesday night.

Commissioners voted to rezone just over 20 acres on Cumming Highway from neighborhood commercial and single family residential to general commercial for a retail center with freestanding restaurants and retail stores. Commissioners approved several conditions required of applicant N and P Acquisitions, including combining an entrance to the development with that of a nearby convenience store.

A resident of the nearby Estates at Brooke Park neighborhood spoke in favor of requiring the developer to do more on storm water collection to reduce the amount flowing into a nearby retention pond.

Commissioners also signed off on a smaller-scale commercial case, approving rezoning a 2.85 acre tract at 7607 Bells Ferry Road from agriculture to neighborhood commercial for retail use.
