A Carrollton man involved in an alcohol-related crash that killed two 20-year-old’s last May was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison.

Michael Cory Camp’s blood alcohol content level was .214, three times the legal limit, when his car crashed head-on with a BMW on Post Road in Douglas County, killing both the driver, Zachary Crenshaw, and passenger, Matthew Miller, on impact.

Camp’s attorney negotiated a plea for his client on two counts of vehicular homicide by DUI but the judge did not grant first offender status, sentencing the 22-year-old to 30 years, with the first half to be served in prison.

Law enforcement reconstructed the crash scene and determined that Camp was traveling 86 mph in a 45 mph zone, Douglas County Chief Assistant District Attorney Brian Fortner told the court Monday.

Fortner said Camp had been drinking most of the night, starting at an Atlanta Braves game and continuing afterwards at two bars — the second of which refused to serve him any more alcohol.
