Fiat-Chrysler America’s request for a conditional use permit to allow a vehicle dealership on Ridgewalk Parkway narrowly passed the Woodstock City Council, but a request for 24 variances for the project was put off to a later meeting.

The applicant, FCA Realty LLC of Auburn Hills, Mich., has proposed a Dodge and Jeep dealership for new and used vehicles and a service center on 12.6 acres on the southwest corner of Ridgewalk and Ridge Trail. The site is east of the I-575 interchange and the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta shopping center.

FCA requested a conditional use permit for auto sales and services, and 24 variances from the Form Based Code, including relief from city standards for screened parking, building placement, lot dimensions, façade requirements and other issues.

The conditional use permit passed on a vote of 4-3, with Mayor Donnie Henriques casting the tie-breaking vote. The variances were tabled until the council’s Sept. 10 meeting.
