Canton has called a public forum for Thursday evening on providing housing options inclusive for all residents.

The event, described by the city as "the cornerstone of engagement" for a newly formed Housing Committee led by Ward 2 Councilor Shawn Tolan, is to start at 6 p.m. at the Historic Canton Theater, 171 E. Main St.

“The Canton Housing Forum will bring our citizens into a discussion about what they want our workforce housing landscape to look like,” Tolan said. “We’ll also discuss some creative housing solutions and what other cities are doing.”

There will be two rounds of panel presentations followed by questions and answers. Topics will include emergency housing, financing for first-time homebuyers, the cost of development, issues facing seniors, the current housing market, and the city’s approach to planning and partnerships.

Additional housing forums and meetings are planned for the next six months, the city said. Information: https://bit.ly/3azdiMv
