The city of Canton has hired two additional police officers, who were sworn in on Monday and will join the city’s comlemt of 48 sworn law officers following training.
Office Tiffani Smithwick is a five-year veteran of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and officer Summer Curran spent six years with the Glynn County Police Department.
Both were sworn in Nov. 30 by Judge Thomas Roach.
Chief Mark Mitchell said both officers would be placed on patrol duty after graduating from the department’s Field Training Officer program in coming months.
