Braselton officials will unveil a watercolor painting of the historic Braselton High School at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Braselton Library, 15 Brassie Lane.
Henry M. Wood Jr., a native of Braselton and 1948 graduate of Braselton High, is the artist commissioned to produce the painting. He earned a bachelor of fine arts degree at the University of Georgia and began his professional art career in 1958. His works have included design and illustration for books, catalogues, cartons, silk screen and advertising.
Now retired to his home studio in Dacula, Wood’s art has been displayed throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
Prints of the painting titled “The Preservation of Our Beautiful Memories” will be sold for $40 at the unveiling. Light refreshments will be served and brief remarks by Wood will precede the unveiling.
