River Ridge High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC program earned the highest rating attainable — Exceeds Standards — during its recent annual unit evaluation. Maj. Marlon Ayers and CMSgt Marvin Palmer were praised for creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with an excellent community outreach program. Under the leadership of student Commander Cadet Col. Heather Acevedo-Ramirez and Deputy Commander Cadet Lt. Col. Kelsey Wessinger, the cadets performed exceptionally well during the event.

Thirty-five Woodstock HS students competed at Georgia’s Technology Student Association State Conference, at which this year 2,700 students from across the State competed in technology and engineering contests. Students who place are invited to attend the National Conference, at which students from the U.S. and other countries including Turkey and Germany come to compete; this year, Nationals will be held in June in Atlanta. Also during the State conference, Woodstock HS junior Greg Carroll was elected the State Vice President and sworn into office. Woodstock HS students who placed and move on to Nationals are: first place, Biotechnology: L.T. Heber, Malachi Brewer, George Saunders, Walter Saunders and Drew Mathena; and third place, Animatronics: Anna Mitchell, Colton Clanton, Sam Skillman, Cory Darko and Matthew Tressler.
