Decatur’s commission will hear a final-draft presentation of the city’s proposed “Community Action Plan” during its meeting 7:30 p.m. Monday at the City Commission Meeting Room, 509 N. McDonough St.

The first draft received mixed reviews from several commissioners after its Nov. 16 presentation by consultants The Art of Community. Interim Commissioner Bill Bolling was one who said then that he’d heard from residents concerned there weren’t enough outlets for input, especially for those without internet access.

But Bolling, who ran the Atlanta Community Food Bank for 36 years where he conducted similar diversity studies, was pleased overall with the process.

“We had 700 people who took the online survey,” he said, “and 250 who participated [in an August 29 seminar],” he said Friday. “In a city of 20,000 that’s a whole lot of responses.

“I look forward to Monday’s presentation,” he added. “But the question now is what is the next step? We’ve identified [71 ‘action points’]. As commissioners we have to ask, how do we continue to engage [Decatur citizens] to address the priorities they say are important to them?”
