A request for proposals issued by Fayette County to possibly privatize its animal shelter has received no bids. At their Feb. 8 meeting, members of the Board of Commissioners disagreed as to whether County Administrator Steve Rapson had been authorized to issue the RFP or had been asked just to prepare a draft of one.

Commissioner Charles Rousseau, who raised the issue last fall after extensive public debate over shelter operations, said a vote on the matter was “the safest route” in the future. A representative from the Fayette Humane Society said the language in the RFP was “very constricting.”
