A beer and bike festival raised more than $6,500 for the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, Sopo Bicycle Cooperative and Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association, according to event sponsor New Belgium Brewing.

Tour de Fat, New Belgium's traveling celebration, stopped at Atlanta's Historic 4th Ward Park on June 30. It drew 200 to a costumed bicycle parade, with about 1,000 braving the record-breaking 106-degree temperature to enjoy the entertainment, food and, of course, cold beer.

One woman, Amanda Smith, won a contest to swap her automobile for a new bike.
