Avondale Estates was stunned earlier this week with the sudden resignation of popular City Clerk Juliette Sims-Owens, who’s held the job since 2008.
“Everybody loves Juliette,” said Mayor Pro Tem Terry Giager. “This is a real surprise.”
Giager said he doesn’t know why Sims-Owens resigned, and City Manager Clai Brown said he couldn’t comment because it’s “a personnel matter.” Brown has posted the job opening in several places including the city’s website at http://avondaleestates.org. He said the deadline for turning in applications is May 22. The salary range is $36,707 to $58,731.
Avondale has 39 full-time staffers—paid employees who get benefits—including seven who work at city hall.
