More rain moved through the metro Atlanta area Thursday, a day after strong thunderstorms and torrential rain flooded streets and caused at least two roofs to collapse. But the storms are gone for now.

Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said conditions are expected to be relatively clear and dry over the next few days, with a serious chance of rain returning Monday.

In Gwinnett County, lightning sparked a house fire in the 4700 block of Allison Drive NE in Buford on Thursday night, fire department spokesman Tommy Rutledge said. The fire was contained to the attic and second floor of the home, he said. No injuries were reported.

Friday is expected to bounce back with mostly sunny skies, with highs in the mid 90s and a 20 percent of isolated showers, Burns said.

Highs in the mid 90s are forecast for the weekend, with a 20 percent chance of rain Saturday and a 30 percent chance Sunday, he said. Monday, the chance of rain is back up to 40 percent.

Wednesday’s heavy rain caused the collapse of two warehouse roofs in Fulton County – one in the 200 block of Bucknell Drive and the other in the 5100 block of West Park Drive, Fulton fire Chief Larry Few said. No injuries were reported, Few said.

There were about 25 people in the West Park Drive warehouse at the time of the roof collapse, authorities said.

The storms knocked out electricity to about 4,300 Georgia Power customers in metro Atlanta, and about 6,000 customers statewide.
