Wednesday morning’s light rain and isolated evening showers were only the calm before the storm as more showers will come later in the week, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Scattered showeres are possible Wednesday night with temperatures heading into the low 70s.

There is a 30 percent chance of rain Thursday and an 80 percent chance Friday and Saturday.

Temperatures were 77 degrees in Atlanta, 70 degrees in Blairsville and 76 degrees in Griffin about 9 p.m.

Highs Thursday will reach 80 degrees.

Another round of showers will hit metro Atlanta Friday afternoon — much needed because Atlanta is in the thick of a moderate drought.

“A warm front continues to move to northeast, increasing our rain coverage for mid-afternoon on Friday,” Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

Burns said rain should continue into lunchtime Saturday.

Metro Atlanta could get just under 2 inches of rain by 1 a.m. Saturday.
