Someone is calling Atlanta water customers, advising them the agency is testing for high chlorine levels in city neighborhoods.

Don’t believe it, the Department of Watershed Management says. No such testing is under way, and the city has not authorized any company to do so.

“Please be on alert for potentially misleading calls, and be very cautious in allowing people to access your homes,” said Watershed Management Commissioner Kishia L. Powell.

The caller reportedly promises a $25 gift card will be provided for any inconvenience. Anyone who receives such calls should contact the ATL 311 Customer Service Center (404-546-0311).
