The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department has scheduled the first Citizens Fire Academy of 2015. The free, six-week program will begin on April 14 and continue 6 to 9 p.m. for five consecutive Wednesdays. Attendees will get an up-close look at the operations of the department and be able to participate in activities such as rapelling and driving fire apparatuses.
The program is held at the Atlanta Fire Rescue Training Academy, 407 Ashwood Ave., in southwest Atlanta.
“We encourage Atlantans to participate in this fun and informative program,” says Interim Fire Chief Joel Baker. “We are certain that anyone who goes through the program will come away with a new understanding of the many services the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department provides.”
Deadline to apply is March 24.
