Gwinnett Board of Commissioners approved two one-year contracts on Jan. 6 with Bob Barker Company, Carolina Textiles OKI Inc., D2 Distributors, Drugstore Products, Inc., Georgia Correctional Industries and Uniforms Manufacturing totaling $175,000 for inmate clothing and supplies.
The Department of Corrections is responsible for housing, clothing and caring for inmates at the facility. The facility is also known as a prison work camp where inmate labor is used to offset these costs. Clothing, shoes and personal hygiene items are purchased for the inmates on a regular basis. The negotiated contract reflects a cost savings of approximately $8,252.
