The Alpharetta City Council has retained RKG Associates Inc. to prepare a new Economic Development Strategic Plan for the North Fulton municipality.
RKG, an economic planning and real estate consultant, was the highest-scoring of four firms that responded to the city’s request for proposals.
The last strategic plan for economic development was completed in 2011, according to a staff report to the council. Given the amount of development of recent years, “a new outside evaluation and strategic vision for development current initiatives and business inventory is needed,” staff said.
The plan will address business retention and expansion; entrepreneurship and small businesses; leveraging existing employment centers; incentives that help attract and retain job growth in targeted industries; and strategies to ensure key corridors reach their maximum economic potential, staff said.
Total project cost is $81,390, with the Alpharetta Development Authority picking up $37,500 of the expense.
