Alpharetta residents will vote in a May 24 bond referendum that would provide money for a laundry list of civic improvement projects.
City council members voted to call the special election Tuesday night. Voters would be asked to approve issuance of $52.5 million in general obligation bonds that would be paid back over 30 years using tax revenue, making a millage rate increase unnecessary.
If approved, the bonds would pay for projects including a $14.85 million road and streetscape upgrade along the Rucker Road corridor, $9 million to ease congestion on traffic-clogged Kimball Bridge Road, $6.5 million to extend the Alpharetta Greenway north into Forsyth County and $6 million for sidewalk improvements.
