A hearing to consider a request from accused Athens cop killer Jamie Hood that the judge assigned his case be removed was postponed Wednesday when the defendant argued with his own attorneys.

Clarke County Superior Court officials told the AJC that a new date for the hearing had not yet been set.

Hood, who is accused of fatally shooting Athens-Clarke County police Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian on March 22, 2011, and wounding Senior Police Officer Tony Howard, has asked that Superior Court Judge Lawton Stephens be removed from hearing his case because Stephens is a friend of the wounded officer's family.

Channel 2 Action News reported that Wednesday's hearing was stopped when Hood couldn't agree with his own attorneys.

Last October, Hood tried unsuccessfully have his public defenders removed from his case.
