Sandy Springs has a new council member, following a runoff.

Chris Burnett will be the new district three representative in the city.

Burnett beat Joe Housman in the race. The two had the most votes of five candidates in the May election to reach a runoff.

The election fills the seat that was vacated by Graham McDonald when he ran for the state House of Representatives. He lost that race.
