A sizable mixed-use development may be coming to the Mall of Georgia area, with more than 300,000 square feet of commercial space, a high-rise hotel and hundreds of residential units.

The development would sit on 16 acres on the north side of the intersection of Mall of Georgia Boulevard and Woodward Crossing Boulevard, east of the mall. Gwinnett County property records show the owner, J & J 360 LLC, paid $4 million for the property in October.

Plans submitted to the county last week call for 217,170 square feet of retail, 91,200 square feet of office space and a 134,460-square-foot hotel with 250 rooms. The development also would include 352 apartments and 40 condominiums.

The development would be served by a mix of on- and off-street parking spaces and multiple above- and below-ground parking structures.

In a letter describing the development, attorney Shane Lanham said the development “would be a catalyst for continued development in the Mall of Georgia area and would create a unique environment and amenity for the citizens of Gwinnett County.”

The plans are tentatively set to be considered at the June 7 meeting of the Gwinnett County Planning Commission.
