Gwinnett County will rehabilitate various bridges under a contract awarded by the Board of Commissioners Tuesday.
Georgia Bridge & Concrete LLC won the $482,000 contract. Many of the bridges it will rehab need new deck joints at the roadways’ transition onto the bridge. These include the bridges on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at Suwanee Creek, Lester Road over Jackson Creek, Sugarloaf Parkway over the CSX Railroad and Annistown Road at the Yellow River.
Other work includes building up creek banks around bridges and cleaning, painting and reinforcing steel pilings. On Old Norcross Road at the Yellow River, the company will install a raised curb and handrail on the westbound side of the bridge.
The county will use money from a voter-approved 2014 special sales tax for construction projects to pay for the work. For more information on road improvement projects, visit www.gwinnettcounty.com.
