For those with questions about their elected officials' spending, DeKalb County and the city of Atlanta might have an answer: They're considering putting financial transactions online for all to see.
DeKalb officials plan to soon post all of the county's purchases, and the Atlanta City Council is contemplating a similar move as it updates its website this fall.
The DeKalb effort mirrors a recommendation in a report on government corruption that recommended putting all spending by commissioners and their staffs on a website.
A few Metro Atlanta cities, such as Alpharetta, Dunwoody and Milton, already publish their transactions, but larger governments in the area haven’t yet followed suit with checkbook-style spending.
