Thousands of pounds of fresh produce, chicken and other food items will be given away Saturday morning in Clayton County.
The free giveway will be at the Harold Banke Justice Center, 9151 Tara Blvd. in Jonesboro, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The parking lot will open at 8 a.m. Visitors are asked to enter in the third driveway which is Posten Road. The food will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The food will come from retailers such as Wal-Mart, Kroger, Publix , Midwest Food Bank and the Atlanta Community Food Bank. There will be a limited number of canned goods, cases of potato chips and frozen poultry, beef and fish available.
Distribution will take place at the HR Banke Justice Center located at 9151 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. Parking lot will open at 8:00AM and we ask that you enter in the 3rd drive way which is Posten Road.
Community Outreach In Action Inc. was established in October 2012 by Janice Dixon,the president and chief executive of the nonprofit group. It provides food, household and school supplies and limited medical services to south metro residents.
Saturday’s event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Community Outreach in Action Inc. USDA/TEFAP Food Distribution program.
