DeKalb’s divides debated in commission race

The runoff for DeKalb Commission is heating up, with the candidates arguing over who would do the best job of healing the county government's divides and moving it forward.

Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton said in a debate Monday that allegations of ethical misconduct are unfounded attempts to undermine her ability to secure resources for the Stone Mountain-area district.

But challenger Steve Bradshaw, who received the most votes in last month's three-way primary election, said he would restore integrity to local government and work together with other commissioners.

They’ll face off in the July 26 runoff to represent DeKalb Commission District 4, which covers nearly 150,000 residents.
