The Clayton County Water Authority is looking for public input in developing a master recreation plan for its Huie site in the southern part of the county. The authority is hosting a January 14 meeting from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. at the South Clayton Recreation Center, 1837 McDonough Rd in Hampton to discuss the plan. It is looking for ideas from residents for recreation opportunities and nature-based programming involving the Huie facility. The Huie property was originally developed as a spray irrigation facility for the disposal and reuse of treated wastewater. Some of the land was converted to constructed treatment wetlands. The property will remained undeveloped to protect one of the county’s vital drinking water reservoirs and to provide greenspace for the community. The CCWA Board of Directors would like to see the property serve as an amenity for our community through the development of a comprehensive recreation plan for the site. The water authority is working with Lose Associates to create the Huie recreation plan. Details: 770 960-6972.
