A draft copy of Brookhaven's zoning overhaul is now ready for residents' feedback, and a series of public meetings have been scheduled.

The 190-page document will guide city leaders on everything from approving new housing developments to what kind of changes will be allowed along Buford Highway and other high-traffic business districts. Along with consultants, a steering committee comprised of residents and business owners helped shape the new policy.

Residents are encouraged to create accounts on the city website in order to leave comments on the draft ordinance. Or they can attend one of four public meetings:

The Brookhaven City Council voted last week to establish a moratorium on new land use permits along Buford Highway while the zoning overhaul is in progress. Members also delayed approval on a proposal to create a new community of 226 townhouses along Buford.
