A Gwinnett County student made a threat on social media that the school system investigated last night. The school system did not specify the nature of the threat.
The student is not in school today and there is an increased number of school resource officers on the campus this morning of Peachtree Ridge High School.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution will bring you more as we learn details.
“We are aware of and have addressed the situation. The Gwinnett County School Police spoke to the student and family overnight,” Principal, Dr. Jeff Mathews emailed parents.
“We take these kinds of threats very seriously and there will be consequences for the student. Although this situation was addressed before school began this morning and this student is not at school we will have an increased police presence on campus this morning.”
The threat was seen by members of the community and reported. Mathews praised the reaction from the community.
