Clayton County elementary schools scored virtually the same as last year, while high schools went up a few points and middle schools also rose a couple on the state’s school report card, the College and Career Ready Performance Index.

This year's score for Clayton elementaries was 62.7, compared to 62.6 last year. For middle schools it was 63.5 compared to 62 last year, and Clayton's high school score rose from 65 last year to 68. You can find a fuller report on Clayton's CRPI performance last year here, on myajc.com.

The state released this year’s scores Thursday.

The 2016 state average was 71.7 for elementary schools, 71.5 for middle schools. The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement has set 60 points as the minimum score for passing on the 0 to 110 point CCRPI, which is assembled by the Georgia Department of Education.

Schools get points for performance on a variety of measures, including graduation and attendance rates, STEM certification, inclusion of students with disabilities in general classrooms or participation in accelerated classes like Advanced Placement. By far the most important measure, though, is performance on state standardized tests, currently the Georgia Milestones.
