The Chronicle of Higher Education is out this week with its survey of 2013 earnings by leaders of the country's private colleges and universities.
Topping the national list is Columbia University president Lee C. Bollinger with $4,615,230 in total compensation for the 2013 calendar year. Bollinger’s bio on the school’s website says he is the longest-serving Ivy League president.
For Georgia, Emory University president James Wagner is the top private-college earner with just over $1 million in total compensation.
The compensation data is taken from tax documents of private nonprofit bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral institutions with the 500 largest endowments. Eleven Georgia leaders are included in the survey.
