Dozens of metro Atlanta educators are participating in Discovery Education's math academy aimed at helping them teach the subject better.

Offered at no cost to educators and schools, the event being held today at Harrison High School in Kennesaw will support more than 80 area educators from Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and other school systems.

Led by education experts with decades of experience in professional development, “Teaching & Assessing Math in a Digital World” explores instructional practices that develop students as mathematical thinkers and problem solvers.

The session focuses on approaches to prepare students for success in college and careers. Attendees will learn strategies to strengthen instructional practices by using resources, tools, assessments and digital media and educational technologies to help students reach higher levels of math achievement.
