Gwinnett County school officials have scheduled a meeting Thursday for people interested in its community-based mentoring program.
The program was created several years ago to help middle school boys considered at risk of failing to obtain a high school diploma or of being arrested. The AJC wrote about the program in 2012. About 130 mentors are now serving more than 300 students.
More than three-quarters of the students in the program passed all four core academic subjects, and 60 percent of the students had fewer than three disciplinary incidents, Gwinnett officials said, citing their 2013-14 annual report.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at 52 Gwinnett Drive, Lawrenceville.
