Gov. Deal’s Education Reform Commission issues final report

Gov. Nathan Deal’s Education Reform Commission issued its formal report Tuesday and met with the governor briefly under the Georgia Dome.

Deal thanked the roughly three dozen members for their service over the past year, then posed for photos as copies of the report, which is now available online, were distributed. Commission chairman Charles Knapp said there were no "material" changes from the package of recommendations approved by the commission in November.

Deal didn’t discuss his plans, but opposition is already lining up following his recent comments that he favored a recommendation to pay teachers based on merit.
