Is Georgia giving brightest kids enough attention?

The education reform effort in Georgia has focused on struggling students. But are we ignoring the plight of academically gifted students?

In an essay today, two educators who work with gifted and talented students say Georgia’s top students show only “OK” performance on national tests.

In addition, they maintain gifted classes in Georgia schools are filled with kids from more affluent homes; schools must do a better job identifying the potential in low-income and minority students.
