The DeKalb County School District has announced three public hearings related to property tax collections, as the district is projected to increase its tax revenue for the upcoming school year.
District officials said while the tax rate won’t change, the district is still expected to collect an additional 4.16 percent in revenue over the previous year. Georgia law requires public meetings when tax collections increase.
The meetings will take place Monday at 10 a.m. and 6:01 p.m., followed by a meeting July 20 at 10 a.m.
Those wishing to speak are asked to call 678-676-0722 or email budget_info@dekalbschoolsga.org before Friday at noon. Details on how the district's public hearing will take place will be made available on the district's website before Monday morning's public hearing.
The public can also send comments via snail mail to Budget Info – Finance Office, 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083.
The public hearings will be the district's first since the coronavirus saw school buildings shut and DeKalb County Board of Education meetings take place using video conferencing software.
