Cobb County education leaders are holding a back-to-school orientation this week to prepare new teachers for the coming school year.

More than 800 new Cobb teachers are registered to attend two sessions beginning Tuesday at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs.

During the orientation, new educators will train with veteran teachers, who will share their experiences to help new teachers plan for "best classroom practice," according to a released statement from the school system.

Orientation sessions include classroom management, use of data for student instruction, effective planning for instruction and strategies for learning engagement.

“They’ll (teachers) learn firsthand how to best prepare to support student achievement and success at every level, with every child,” according to the school system.

School begins for students in Cobb on Aug. 3. All teachers return on July 27.
