Cherokee County School District high school students in advanced placement classes earned the third-highest rate in Georgia for passing AP exams.

The school district had a passage rate of 73% among the 4,125 tests administered in spring 2015, which ranks third out of Georgia’s 180 school systems and exceeds the state average of 55% and the national average of 58%.

The AP program has grown significantly in the district, with courses and exams currently offered in 26 subjects. The number of exams taken by students has increased 83% in the last five years alone.

The College Board named Cherokee County schools to the AP Honor Roll. Only six school districts in Georgia were named to the AP Honor Roll for 2015, and this was the third consecutive year Cherokee earned the distinction.
