The Friends of the Alpharetta Library recently was recognized by the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce for its outstanding partnership with Alpharetta Elementary School. The group works within the Alpharetta community to advocate literacy. And to expand its efforts, the group created a partnership with Alpharetta Elementary in 2011. During this time, The Friends of the Alpharetta Library has provided generous grants to Alpharetta Elementary for a variety of endeavors, including professional development for teachers, books and resources for expanding the media center, and a data-driven program to help improve school-wide writing. In turn, the school supports the Alpharetta Branch Library’s summer reading program and book sales. It also handles overflow parking.
