The mother of a Fayette County kindergartner was unable to find her son for about an hour Thursday.

That’s because he had been dropped off at the wrong bus stop, Channel 2 Action News reported.

When 5-year-old Julwan Han didn’t get off at the Sheffield Estates stop Thursday after school, his mother, Sasha Evans, became concerned. Evans asked the driver if he had any kindergartners on the bus, but she said he shrugged and said, “I just pick them up,” Channel 2 reported.

After Evans asked the driver if another bus was coming, he said no.

“I said, ‘Well, this is the only bus he’s supposed to be on.’ He told me to take that up with transportation,” Evans said.

Evans told the news station the driver did not look for her son or allow her to look inside the bus.

Turns out, Han was dropped off at a home six minutes away. Parents at that home called the school to get in contact with Evans, Channel 2 reported.

Han was returned to Evans about an hour later.

“The bus driver was at fault and this should have never happened,” the school said in a statement to Channel 2. “We are in the process of taking appropriate action so that this situation does not happen again.”

Fayette County Schools said all bus drivers are given a route and a list detailing which student should get off at each bus stop.
