More charges have been filed against a Hall County man accused of assaulting deputies with a machete.
Just after 7 a.m. Sunday, Justin Andrew Bennett allegedly assaulted three people in the 2000 block of Sailors Avenue. When Hall County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, Bennett was armed with a machete, according to reports.
Bennett, 27, was shot by a deputy and subsequently disarmed when he “failed to cease his aggressive behavior,” Hall County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Mark Mitchell said.
He initially was charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer and one count of obstructing an officer. Tuesday, authorities announced two counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated stalking and first-degree burglary charges had been added.
Bennett remains in the Hall County Jail without bond.
