Georgia Representative Dar'shun Kendrick, D-Lithonia, finds herself in a social media battle after posting on Facebook that was "going to slap (Fox & Friends panelist) Stacey Dash if I see her."
Kendrick apparently didn't like Dash's comments concerning Patricia Arquette's speech when accepting her Oscar on Sunday. "To every woman who gave birth, to every citizen who has paid taxes … this is our time to have wage equality and equal rights for women," Arquette said.
On Monday's Fox & Friends, Dash said she was "appalled."
“First of all, Patricia Arquette needs to do her history. In 1963, [President] Kennedy passed an equal pay wall. It’s still in effect. I didn’t get the memo that I didn’t have any rights,” Dash said.
After hearing of Kendrick's Facebook post, Dash responded on Twitter:
She has been retweeted more than 300 times, with hundreds of comments both supporting and criticizing her.
Kendrick responded on Facebook:
"... and I have just been brought into a Twitter war with Stacey Dash....this should be interesting. Apparently she can't read either. Sigh....."
That post, too, has garnered numerous comments, both supporting and criticizing Kendrick.
Kendrick says she recanted the statement, but not in time to prevent the social media firestorm it has created.
The two women have apparently stopped replying to comments directed at them, but their followers are continuing to comment on both sites.
For more on Dash's Georgia connections, here's a story on her lawyer-manager, Patrick Millsaps, who hails from Camilla.
