A dancing Starbucks barista from Toronto is serving up smiles with his lattes.
Sam was diagnosed with autism and a movement disorder at an early age. Because he had a hard time keeping his body still, the teenager thought a barista job wasn't in his future.
But store manager Chris Ali felt otherwise. Not only did he believe in Sam, he also encouraged him to use his dance moves at work.
The result has paid off in multiple ways.
When Sam got the job, he told his parents that he felt his life had meaning to it. He had never said that to them before.
Sam practiced a lot behind the bar but in an environment that yearned to see him succeed. Dancing at work has helped Sam be more in control of his movement disability, which has also helped him develop confidence.
And the customers love it, too. Many people, including regulars, come to see the "dancing barista" do his thing.
