A woman remains on life support following a multivehicle crash on I-285 West in Sandy Springs last weekend, authorities said Friday.

The wreck occurred around 5:45 a.m. Sunday near Roswell Road and involved at least seven vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, according to Sandy Springs police.

The injured driver, who was not publicly identified, allegedly caused the seven-vehicle accident, police said. She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and placed in the intensive care unit.

“She is not well,” police said Friday, without elaborating.

The incident brought traffic to a standstill for nearly five hours. At around 10:30 a.m., the crash was cleared and all lanes were reopened.

An investigation into the wreck is ongoing. Authorities said the woman would face charges if her condition improves.
